The Head of Medusa has the power to turn people into stone. When the head is drawn out of the sack, those who gaze into its eyes will be horrified, and turn into stone, by its sheer ugliness. After the initial use, the eyes of Medusa will close forever, and all its magical powers will be lost. The possessor must be careful not to take a look into the eyes of the head himself/herself, lest he/she also turn into stone.
