A unit that has Critical Strike and attack type MAGIC, PSYCHIC or MEDIOCRITY, the damage modifier is 1.5 instead of 0.5.

A unit that has Critical Strike but not any of the above attack types, the damage modifier is increased by 0.25.

As of 12/08/15 it appears that Phase_Step is the only effect which adds Critical Strike to a stack.
