The Altar of Blood
Data on this page needs confirmation |
This altar gives off a rank, bloody smell and is drenched with deep red blood. You can even see chunks of meat, guts, hearts, and livers all lying on the altar. A deep voice in your heart tells you to sacrifice an innocent to the Altar of Blood... as you do, you feel the energy of the altar beginning to flow into your body.
Attribute: | UNIQUE PERMANENT |
Charge Turn: | 0 |
Effects
- Extra income of 2,500 m.p. This means extra 5,000 mana on turns that you mana charge.
- Takes 5000 population per turn, not shown in Status Report.
- It used to give 5,000 extra m.p., and on Arch it still does. (source needed)
Usage
- and mages love Altar of Blood.
- mages will need to avoid ripper- and undead- heavy stacking.
- mages should consider selling altar. Otherwise they'll have to stack heavy amounts of red and blue units, which is inefficient.
- Dragons.
- Beware of getting into a pop spiral with this item.
- If you start to pop-spiral, suicide your pop-eaters, then use use Wine of the Three Whips to recover. Pillaging and Book of Prophecy can help a little also.
- If you still cannot avoid pop spiral, sell Altar or see the next section.
Recovery from zero pop
User:t3h_flamee tested recovery from 0 pop while having The Altar of Blood on BETA (forum thread?)
- I wasn't researched yet when I had the altar zero my pop (by accident, didn't watch my pop).
- What I did was build 500 nodes, and cast LA nonstop, with around 1k guilds. Damage surfing. That got me enough items to sell to not die of geld problems, and even buy some BoPs in the meantime. Later on I could even afford Wines, as the item income was more stable.
- Pillaging for recovery is not effective. IF you're UNGODLY lucky, and manage a streak of 40 10k pop pillages, you might end up with like 60k pop , coz altar takes near 4800 per turn, and then as you gain some minor pop the income starts growing. The point of stability in my case was around 300k pop, when income=upkeep.
- Recovery started with 44 BoP and 20 wines. Used all 44 books, got like ...150k pop, and then used 8 wines. I'm on 350k pop now. I'm safe, for now. Edited in for clarification. Books gave me around 8k pop each.
- mages might have an easier time recovering from the popspiral than in the example above. Oncolor LA and skill would be quite handy in that.
- Nature favor helps.
- As a white mage with LA 5 and Nature favor, I used 40 books and got to 219k pop, just enough for positive pop income. Then I topped off with a few wines. I could have done it with only 30 books and a few wines, I think. Carltsai 15:34, 7 September 2008 (CEST)
