Animals are one of the races for units in the game.

There are eight plain animal units:

• Capsule Monsters with a Melee attack type, they vanish after combat. From: Items: Capsule Monster
• Falcons with a Melee attack type. From: Swords for Hire (Black Market Only)
• Trained Elephants with a Melee attack type. From: Swords for Hire (Black Market Only)
• War Hounds with a Melee attack type. From Swords for Hire (Black Market Only)
• Werewolves with Melee primary and secondary attack types (Dual Race: Human Animal). From: Moon "Most Favored" Bonus
• Frogs with a Melee attack type. From: Items: Total Newbie Handbook or heroes : Witch
• Squirrels with a Melee attack type. From: Items: Total Newbie Handbook or heroes : Summoner
• Sheep with a Melee attack type. From: Heroes: Shepherdess (Shepherding)

There are four verdancy animal units:

• Griffons with Melee primary and secondary attack types. From: Complex Spell: Call Griffon
• Werebears with a Melee attack type (Dual Race: Human Animal). From: Average Spell: Summon Werebear
• Gorillas with a Melee attack type. From: Simple Spell: Animal Summoning or Items: Peaches.
• Swanmays with a Melee attack type (Dual Race: Human Animal). From: Recruitable (Green Only)

There is one eradication animal unit:

• Hell Hound with Melee and Fire Breath attack types. From: Average Spell: Summon Hellhound

There is one ascendancy animal unit:

• Pegasus with a Melee attack type. From: Simple Spell: Summon Pegasus
