Summary
The amount of cash that a merchant makes may seem small compared to the price you pay - but it comes all the time, no matter if you keep towns and farms. This makes your mage invulnerable to death, very nice for mages fighting in the low ranks and during war. Commands a very high price on the market. Unless you expect to war, don't buy it unless there are sufficient turns left before Armageddon for you to make a sizable profit.
