The warrior women of the jungle, Amazons are amazing fighters, and surprisingly good at leading an army as well. Their take-charge attitude, and the power to back it up, results in a very efficient force. They can even communicate with animals to some extent, and beasts under their command turn into deadly forces on the battlefield.

Valor
Increases Primary and Counter AP of all your units by 2% + 1%/lvl. Stacks linearly with multiple valor using heroes(2 heroes with level 5 valor will give you a (2%+5%) + (2%+5%) boost to AP.
Animal Taming
Reduces Primary and Counter AP of all enemy Animal units by 5%/lvl.
Beast Master
Increases Primary and Counter AP of all your Animal units by 5%/lvl.
Summary
Amazons will lead animal stacks. However as Green players generally use Treefolk(treants/mandrakes/venus flytraps), the Amazon commands a somewhat low price on the market and is generally bought as a cheap valor hero. Treefolk are preferred compared to animals as they tend to be stronger, will not be ruined by a lucky Ring of Animal Command passing through barriers and have a lower upkeep (particularly geld, animals have very high geld upkeeps).
Leadership
Amazons will naturally lead, and give an efficiency bonus to:
Griffons
Werebears
Swanmays
Gorillas
If you have more than one of these units in your stack, the Amazon will lead the animal unit which is placed highest in your stack.
