"We are not Titans due to our large size. We are Titans because of our enormous duty."- Maximus, Titan jailer of the Spire of Lost Souls.

The Titans, a race of noble giants, were the guardians of the Spire of Lost Souls for millennia, using their epic strength to keep the gates of the prison of demons closed. When the damned broke out, the Titans dedicated themselves to capturing the demonic convicts. Casting javelins of lighting before closing in for close combat, these giant legionnaires now fight on the side of Ascendant mages to marshal against the dark forces unleashed from the Spire.

Additional Comments

Titans don't have a tremendous amount going for them other than damage potential and the fact they are ground units. The second point matters if you are trying to place them along with other Ascendant ground units such as Spirit Warriors, Unicorns, Astral Magicians, etc. The problem is, Titans die easier than almost all of those. They have a 13 net power:attack ratio, which is higher than a Dominion's 11.53 (but less than Unicorn's 13.33). They have a truly terrible 1.7 net power:health ratio compared to Dominion's 2.05 and obviously lack Dominion's ability to heal. Their average resists are almost exactly the same as Dominion's though they have Verdant spell resist when Dominions lack any. Titan's Markmanship and Siege abilities also help it overall in the damage category. But it's also not cheap.

Titans can be tricky to place in your army. On the one hand, if you are going ground-heavy, they will be the only ultimate. And thus on defense, Resurrection will by far help them the most--and if your Titans are stacked too high, you're almost certainly going to lose fights without Resurrection on defense. But that spell doesn't help your other ground troops very much which benefit from Platinum Hand of Healing much more. You could have a combination of Dominions and massed Titans up top with Resurrection, but it will be hard to maintain a deep stack and keep fodder for pillage protection.

It seems most Titans are summoned once, and eventually whittled down until they are low in the stack and relatively protected. Because even with their low health:net power they are still ultimates, and small units will have trouble killing them. So they are used against back stacks to kill fodder. Perhaps not the most glorious position for an ultimate Ascendant unit, but it's what Titans can do well.
